WORKSHOP OUTLINE

Installing a promptly configured, secure and reliable TFS server for your company is not a trivial task and many team make the mistake of thinking it is simply a case of following the installation wizard. In this workshop you'll learn from consultants with 5 years experience installing TFS in many configurations.

The workshop starts by outlining a number of possible configurations and discussing the various benefits and drawbacks of each alternative. Once the planning is done you'll see a walkthrough of an actual installation and learn about the significance and the post installation configuration process.

Automated builds including Continuous Integration solutions are extrmeely valuable to development teams. In this next section you'll see how to install and configure a build environment with build controllers and build agents. You'll also see how to create your first build definition and the basics of how you can customise these.

Once the TFS server is up and running, you'll see how to setup security in such a way to minimise day to day security related tasks while ensuring the seucrity of the information you store in TFS.

The workshop winds up by showing you how you can migrate your source code and work items from other products into your newly built and configured TFS server.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This workshop has been designed for technical staff proficient with the installation of software including operating systems. Ideally each team should have two staff designated as the "TFS Go-to person" and this is the workshop for them.
